Had carpal tunnel surgery
Was shortlisted for a competition and lost to my husband
Attended Reading Matters Conference and the Sisters in Crime She Kilda conference
Joined a writing group and then didn’t attend many meetings because of health problems
Husband suffered an injury and went on Workcover
Got my mug in the newspaper a few times here and here
Made my telly debut (yes it does still count even though it was Today Tonight). You can watch me here from the five minute mark
Suffered a loss
Watched a lot of television shows including all five seasons of Dawson’s Creek, thanks to Persnickey Snark’s blog post about her favourite scene
Did my second stint and as Writer in Residence funded by Arts Victoria
Published my short stories as ebooks (inspired by Angela Meyer)
I had a great school visit where I was recognized by a student who told me she loved my book
Got chicken pox
Completed a draft of my second novel The Other Daughter
Did 5 writing workshops to adults and young people, was on 3 panels at conferences/festivals, and did 4 presentations.
Became a writer’s advice columist for an on-line journal
My baby niece was born
My stepfather had a heart attack and triple bypass surgery
After five years of dreaming I got two floor to ceiling built in wardrobes and a door on my bedroom and found out that yes, it did change my life. I’d always wondered if I was slothful because that was my natural instinct or did the chaos of not having any storage space defeat me before I began. Turns out I can be tidy.
So what does 2012 hold:
- I’m studying a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education
- Doing my third stint as a Writer in Residence at Gisborne Secondary College funded by Arts Victoria
- Submitting my second novel
My goals are:
- Follow my muse wherever it takes me
- Watch less tv shows
- Be happy
- Have good health
